These Samsung 94Ah cells have been removed from residential energy storage packs. We've cut the aluminum bus bars and fully tested all cells.

These cells are great for many different applications ranging from stationary storage to EVs. In fact, they're used in the BMW i3, Fiat 500e, VW e-Golf and other EVs, and we've used them in applications ranging from solar backup to golf carts.

Options

With Studs

Please allow a few extra days for processing. We've milled off the laser-welded bus bars, then drilled and tapped both electrodes to install 1/4"-20 studs and nuts. We use an industrial mill and drill press for each operation, which ensures repeatability and safety of the cells. Even the tapping operation is done on the mill.

We tested a batch of batteries after our first run of drilling/tapping, charging at 30 amps and discharging at 50 amps. They tested at 99Ah , and impedance was right at 0.50mΩ. We even checked temperature distribution with a Flir camera and found no hot spots.

Without Studs

The less-expensive option for those that want to do a little work. These will have remnants of the bus bar still attached. It's fairly straightforward to carefully clean the electrodes with your tool of choice, then drill and tap yourself.

Tested

These are fully charged and load tested, along with AC impedance. Cells are marked with actual capacity and charged to nominal (3.6v) for storage and shipping. Every cell gets a voltage-check prior to leaving our shop.

  • Recommend charging/discharging current is 0.33 C (31 A)
  • Cycle life: 3,200 cycles at 80 % DoD (Deep of Discharge) up to 80 % residual capacity (at discharge current 94 A)
  • Maximum discharge current is 1 C continuously and peak 4.3 C (413 A, <5 s).
  • Maximum charging current is 0.5 C continuously

We pack and label all lithium battery shipments in accordance with Federal Regulation 49CFR173.185, as well as USPS Publication 52 Hazard Class 9 or UPS/Fedex guidelines. Unless otherwise stated, lithium batteries are not eligible for free shipping.

We try to pack all items in an order in a single box, however we may on occasion need to ship items separately. Special shipping does not apply to lithium ion batteries, and orders that include batteries may not qualify for free or expedited shipping.
